A Winchester Model 1873 rifle, serial 563969, made in 1902 and chambered for the 32-20 cartridge, with a 24-inch barrel. The supplier reports that the metal has turned a light brown patina, the wood rates very good and the action works perfectly. It comes to us on consignment under SKU W12316.

In Illinois this is a collector's rifle rather than a deer gun. The state's firearm deer seasons allow shotguns with slugs, muzzleloaders, qualifying handguns and single-shot centerfire rifles of .30 caliber or larger, and a Model 1873 in 32-20 is not on that list, so plan on it staying home in November. What it offers instead is an honest 1902 Winchester with even patina on the metal, good wood and an action the supplier says works perfectly, the kind of piece that gets shot lightly with suitable loads and otherwise sits in the cabinet.
