Illinois is a licence state. The Concealed Carry Licence is issued by the Illinois State Police, not by a county sheriff, and you must be 21, hold a FOID, finish 16 hours of training with an ISP-approved instructor and submit fingerprints. Public shooting ranges near Decatur

Illinois does not run a large network of public rifle ranges. The Department of Natural Resources lists hand trap and archery ranges at state parks, forests and wildlife areas, and the state's one full shooting complex is the World Shooting and Recreational Complex at Sparta.
